SERIOUS INJURY MOTORCYCLE CRASH - INTERSTATE 5 NEAR HARRISBURG (PHOTO)

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Friday evening's serious injury motorcycle crash that occurred at the northbound Oak Grove Rest Area on Interstate 5 near Harrisburg.
On October 3, 2014 at approximately 7:33 p.m., a motorcycle operated by EDDIE R. BATES, age 42, from Coburg, was northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 206 when it entered the Oak Grove Rest area at approximately 50 mph. The motorcycle struck a curb, ejecting BATES about 75 feet onto the ground.
BATES was transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend with serious injuries. He was wearing a protective helmet.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Harrisburg Fire Department, Eugene/Springfield Fire & EMS, and ODOT. Trooper Cale Day is the lead investigator.
