Oregon State Police (OSP) is asking for the public's help to identify the pickup and driver involved in Sunday morning's serious injury hit & run pedestrian-involved crash on the beach near Gearhart in Clatsop County.

On October 5, 2014 at approximately 7:30 a.m., JALIXAN FATAMAG, age 22, from Astoria, said he was walking on the beach near the Del Ray Beach access road when he was hit by a pickup's driver side rear bumper that was operated recklessly and 'cutting cookies'.

FATAMAG was knocked to the ground and had brief verbal contact with the pickup's male driver before it drove away. FATAMAG was seriously injured and helped by his friends who were at the beach access parking lot and heard him yelling for help.

FATAMAG was transported by ambulance to Providence Seaside Hospital and then taken by air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. His injuries were serious but not life threatening.

The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model 'lifted' white Toyota Tundra pickup with black fenders and tinted windows. The pickup displayed unknown salmon-style Oregon license plates and has a yellow "OREGON" sticker (approximately 3 inch high lettering) in the rear window. There is no further description of the driver.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call OSP Northern Command Center dispatch at (800) 452-7888. Lead investigator is Trooper Dave Rzewnicki.
