WILSONVILLE, OR - In recognition of the important role that manufacturing plays in Wilsonville, the region and the state, City of Wilsonville Mayor Tim Knapp declared October as "Manufacturing Month" at the October 6 City Council meeting.
"The manufacturing sector is a huge economic engine for our community and region, providing over 4,000 jobs right here in Wilsonville," explained Mayor Knapp. "Our hats are off to Wilsonville's manufacturers for the vital role they play in our economy," continued Knapp.
Wilsonville is home to many different kinds manufacturing firms, including advanced manufacturing technologies like full-color and 3-D printing, electronic design automation, heads-up aircraft guidance controls, infrared night-vision systems, innovative medical products, electrical components and specialized metal products.
In issuing the proclamation, Mayor Knapp joins other Oregon leaders like Governor John Kitzhaber and Portland Mayor Charlie Hales in honoring the important role of manufacturing to the state and regional economy.
