October 17, 2014 - A Sheriff's Deputy attempted to stop a stolen vehicle that refused to yield to him. The vehicle eventually crashed into the ditch and both men were arrested.

On October 17, 2014, at 3:02 a.m., a Washington County Deputy Sheriff saw a 2013 Honda Civic with the license plate obscured. The deputy attempted to stop the Honda at NW Cornell Road and NW Trail Avenue in the community of Oak Hills. The Honda abruptly increased speed and headed westbound on Highway 26. The deputy was using his lights and siren to stop the Honda. The driver of the Honda refused to stop and was actively attempting to avoid law enforcement.

The deputy learned through dispatch that the Honda was reported stolen out of SE Portland on October 15, 2014. Additional deputies assisted in the apprehension of the fleeing Honda. The driver of the Honda lost control of the vehicle at mile post 44, west of Stafford Road on Highway 26, and drove into the ditch. The vehicle was sideways in the road with the front tires in the ditch. The driver continued to race the engine as he attempted to try to flee the deputies.

Deputies were able to take the driver, indentified as Thuy Nguyen, 39, from Portland, and the passenger, Josiah Kezelee Pierce, 22, from Portland, into custody without further incident. There were no injuries or damage to other vehicles during the incident.

Deputies found Heroin and Methamphetamine in the vehicle. Mr. Kezelee Pierce is on probation out of Washington County for a prior robbery conviction.

Josiah Kezelee Pierce was lodged in the Washington County Jail. He is charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Unauthorized Entry into Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Heroin and Methamphetamine and a Probation Violation. He is held on $20,000 bail.

Thuy Nguyen was lodged in the Washington County Jail. He is charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Unauthorized Entry into Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Heroin, Attempt to Elude Police Officer and Second Degree Criminal Mischief. He is held on $20,000 bail.
