DEATH INVESTIGATION - HIGHWAY 126E NEAR BELKNAP SPRINGS IN LANE COUNTY

Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the Lane County Medical Examiner, is completing an investigation into the death of a Springfield man found deceased Wednesday in his vehicle at the McKenzie River Viewpoint along Highway 126E near Belknap Springs. Initial investigation indicates the death is from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On October 15, 2014 at approximately 8:35 a.m., an ODOT employee stopped to check a 1991 Honda Civic parked at the McKenzie River Viewpoint along Highway 126E near milepost 15. The ODOT employee reported discovering a deceased adult male inside the car.
OSP responded to the scene to investigate. The deceased was identified as DAVID PETER CADA, age 45, from Springfield.
