WILSONVILLE, OR -- Throughout the month of October the City seeks public input on draft plans for the Frog Pond Area and is hosting a variety of meetings, including a public open house from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, at Wilsonville City Hall, 29799 SW Town Center Loop East. The City will also offer the opportunity to learn about the draft plans and provide feedback through an on-line open house.
The Frog Pond Area Plan is a City-led planning initiative funded in part by a $341,000 Metro grant that has been underway since March, 2014. When complete, the concept plan will establish a vision for the larger 500-acre Frog Pond area, including the Advance Road urban reserve area.
After conducting research and consulting with various stakeholders, the project team has developed a set of three land-use and transportation alternatives that are now ready for public review and feedback. Each of the three draft plans proposes a unique approach to how the Frog Pond Area might be developed primarily as a residential area.
In order to obtain feedback on the three draft alternatives, the City invites the public to learn more about the proposed plans at one of the following upcoming events and meetings, all of which are open to the public and held at Wilsonville City Hall:
* Frog Pond Area Task Force meeting: Thursday, October 2, 6 p.m. Meeting includes a brief public comment period.
* City Council Work Session briefing by project team: Monday, October 6, 5 p.m. This meeting can be viewed on Wilsonville TV Channel 30.
* Planning Commission briefing by project team: Wednesday, October 8, 6 p.m. This meeting can be viewed on Wilsonville TV Channel 30.
* Public open house: Thursday, October 16, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a brief presentation at 6:30 p.m., with informal, drop-in question and answer opportunities the remainder of the time.
* On line open house, available from October 10 to 21 from the project web site: www.ci.wilsonville.or.us/frogpond.
* Written comments may also be submitted to Chris Neamtzu, City of Wilsonville Planning Director, via email or in hard copy until October 21.
Related materials are currently available online from the project website, www.ci.wilsonville.or.us/FrogPond.
The portion of the Frog Pond area west of Stafford Road was added by Metro to the City's urban growth boundary in 2002; the Advance Road area was added to the City's urban reserves in 2010. Both are presumed to be developed as primarily residential neighborhoods, with a future retail node, primary school, middle school and community park as anchors.
After Council adopts a final Concept Plan for the whole area in spring of 2015, a more detailed master plan for the Frog Pond UGB area will include the land use policies to be applied when land is annexed into the city. The plan will also include a financing plan for providing needed sewer, water, and stormwater infrastructure. Planning for the area will account for future investments by the West Linn-Wilsonville School District and the City for new schools and sports fields.
