assisted by mild fall temperatures, and daylight, Clackamas fire investigators concluded the cause of the early morning fatal fire was due to cigarettes. In addition to this tragic discovery, no smoke alarms were found in the debris left by the deadly fire. Investigators combed through the apartment unit shortly after the blaze was extinguished, and remained on scene for several hours to complete an in depth investigation. The identity of the single victim is not currently available, and is being held until family notifications are delivered. Future updates will be shared through this medium.
Clackamas firefighters urge citizens to take a moment to check their smoke alarm in their own house, and grieve the loss of a local member of our community from this painful event.
