***Update***
Fire Investigators have completed their investigation and identified a broken light bulb to have been the cause of the early morning fire at the K.B. Recycling Center in Clackamas. After conducting interviews with staff and reviewing surveillance footage it was clear that a light bulb in the warehouse suddenly burst, showering a pile of recycling material with sparks causing it to ignite. Damage to the contents of the structure are estimated at $200,000 however, the building will have to undergo a thorough review by an engineer prior to identifying the monetary loss.

###

Shortly after 4:30 this morning firefighters responded to the K.B. Recycling center, located at 9602 SE Clackamas Rd. on an automatic fire alarm sounding. Crews arrived to find a large trash pile on fire and upgraded the incident to a first alarm. Due to the large amount of debris in the building and difficult access, a second alarm was intiated at 8:00am. Crews are currently ventilating the building and working to remove the derbris from the structure using heavy equipment as they continue to extinguish the fire. The fire is contained to the recycling center and the fire has not extended to any other structures.

At this time there continues to be smoke that is drifting into the surrounding area and across I-205 and Highway 212. Please use caution when driving in the area and if you have respiratory issues or are medically fragile stay inside your homes. At this time there are no evacuation orders in place.

Crews will be remaining on scene for an extended period of time until the fire can be overhauled and completely extinguished. Fire Investigators are on scene and will be working to conduct interviews and identify the cause and extent of damage of this fire.
