August 22, 2014--August 22, 2014--Detectives are asking the public to continue providing tips as the homicide investigation continues. Any piece of information, regardless how small, could be critical to assist investigators solve this crime. Detectives are currently processing hundreds of pieces of evidence and information and continue to reach out for more.

While these types of attacks are very rare in stranger to stranger situations, there is no evidence to suggest it was not a random attack. Detectives do not have definitive evidence to lead them toward a firm conclusion as to why the attack occurred or who may be responsible. While detectives think it is possible Ms. Laube was the intended target, they do not have evidence or information why she was attacked.

August 20, 2014--Detectives are searching for information related to a homicide that occurred yesterday evening.

On August 19, 2014, at about 5:10 p.m., Sheriff's Deputies were called to the Commons at Timber Creek apartments in the community of Cedar Mill, concerning a seriously injured woman. Sheriff's Deputies were contacted by an apartment resident who reported that a female came to her and told her that she had been stabbed. Another resident called the Sheriff's Office for assistance.

Numerous Sheriff's Deputies responded and found Nicole Laube, 29, from Forest Grove, outside, unconscious and bleeding. Sheriff's Deputies began administering emergency lifesaving assistance for Ms. Laube. Nicole Laube was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter. She was an employee of the apartment complex working unspecified duties at the time.

And intensive man hunt was conducted with K9s and over 20 law enforcement personnel from surrounding agencies. The search was not successful in locating the suspect. Little information is confirmed at this early stage of the investigation as detectives search through evidence and conduct interviews.

The Washington County Major Crimes Team Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. The Washington County Forensic Science Unit also responded to assist in searching for evidence and process the scene.

The Washington County Medical Examiner was on scene and confirmed the death as homicidal violence but could not confirm the exact cause of death. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
