The City of Beaverton, with the support of the Oregon Humane Society, will host the city's first Pooch Parade prior to the start of the Beaverton Celebration Day on Sept. 6 at 10 a.m.
Participants are instructed to meet at the corner of Allen Boulevard and Menlo Drive prior to 10 a.m. The Pooch Parade is limited to the first 100 to sign up and will consist of a 1.5 mile parade route. The theme for this year's parade is "A World in Our City."
In addition, on Sept. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Beaverton First Friday on Washington Street between second and third, there will be a Doggie Dress-Up contest. Awards will be given out to best-dressed small, medium, and large pooch as well as an award for best trick. The judging will begin at 6:30 p.m. for small dogs, 6:45 p.m. for medium dogs, and 7 p.m. for large dogs, and end with the best trick competition at 7:15 p.m. Winners will be given the opportunity to have special recognition at Saturday morning's Pooch Parade.
