Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Tuesday afternoon's serious injury bicycle-involved traffic crash that occurred along Highway 126 east of Powell Butte in Crook County. The names of the involved persons will be released Wednesday. The manner and cause of the crash will also be released when confirmed.

Preliminary information indicates on August 12, 2014 at approximately 4:44 p.m., a 53-year old bicyclist from Canada was traveling westbound along Highway 126 near milepost 9 when he was struck from behind by a westbound GMC Sierra pickup driven by a 44-year old male. The bicyclist was ejected into a ditch and seriously injured.

The male bicyclist was transported by air ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with serious non-life threatening injuries. He was wearing a helmet.

The pickup's driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Crook County Sheriff's Office, local fire personnel and ODOT.
