PRELIMINARY INFORMATION: FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH - HIGHWAY 197 SOUTH OF THE DALLES IN WASCO COUNTY (PHOTO)

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Thursday morning's two vehicle traffic crash that resulted in the death of an adult male and injuries to two other people on Highway 197 about five miles north of Dufur.
Preliminary information indicates on August 14, 2014 at approximately 7:30 a.m., a sport utility vehicle with three occupants was traveling northbound on Highway 197 near milepost 8 approaching the intersection with Ward Road. A pickup driven by an adult male was westbound on Ward Road and turned in front of the northbound sport utility vehicle which struck the pickup's left side.
An adult male occupant in the sport utility vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other occupants of that vehicle were transported to hospitals, one by LifeFlight to Oregon Health & Science University.
The pickup's driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation.
OSP troopers from The Dalles Area Command office are investigating the fatal crash. All names are not being released at this time.
OSP is assisted at the scene by Dufur Fire Department and ODOT.
