PORTLAND FIRE & RESCUE RESPONDS TO 2ND ALARM HIGHRISE FIRE AT 522 SW 5TH AVENUE

More than 60 firefighters responded to a late night high rise fire on the roof of the 15-story Yeon Building.
The fire burnt an area approximately 25' in circumference. No injuries to firefighters or civilians resulted from this fire.
Fire crews responded after several 911 calls reported smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building. First arriving crews ascended to the roof of the building carrying the necessary equipment to extinguish the fire. Additional crews secured a water supply, performed primary and secondary searches of the building, checked for fire extension and evacuated adjacent structures.
The fire was brought under control in less than 20 minutes and was contained to the floor of origin.
A fire investigator is on scene working to determine the cause of this fire and making preliminary damage estimates.
