Shortly before 1:00pm firefighters responded to the area of Highway 224 and Bakers Ferry Rd on a brush fire. Witnesses in the area reported seeing an individual start the fire and leave the area. Crews arrived to find approximately an 1/8th of an acre of grass and brush burned with fire actively crowning from the top of a large Douglas Fir tree along the Cazadero Trail near Barton. Firefighters were able to extinguish this fire in just over an hour, using a water deluge gun mounted on top of the fire engine to reach the top of the tree. No injuries occurred and no buildings were damaged.

This is the seventh brush fire that Clackamas Fire has responded to in the area of Highway 224 and Bakers Ferry Road since July 15, 2014. Due to the number of potentially related incidents in this area, Clackamas Fire is asking neighbors and businesses to report any suspicious activity related to this incident to the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office at 503.723.4949 or by filling in the online form at http://web3.clackamas.us/contact/tip.jsp
