Detectives have said that their preliminary investigation has determined that this is an accidental near drowning incident. The child was not wearing a personal flotation device (PFD) lifejacket.

On August 11th at 14:54 hours 911 received a call from from a subject indicating that there was a missing two year old male near the Siouxon Bridge in Norther Clark County. The caller indicated that they were concerned that the missing might be in the water. This area is on Yale lake and is only accessible by boat.

Both Clark and Cowlitz Counties started rescue resources to the scene. About 15 minutes later 911 received a follow up call that indicated the child had been located in the water and was not breathing. There happened to be a pediatric nurse on scene who attempted CPR on the child. Those efforts were not successful. The child was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office will be investigating to determine just how this tragedy occurred.
