Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into an early Monday morning single vehicle traffic crash along Highway 26 about eight miles southeast of Madras. The crash resulted in serious injuries to three juveniles and the death of a dog.
On August 25, 2014 at approximately 3:29 a.m., a 2001 Toyota Camry driven by ROSEBUD WHIPPLE, age 16, from Warm Springs, was traveling westbound on Highway 26 near milepost 8 when it left the roadway and rolled several times. The vehicle came to rest off the highway on its top.
The driver and both passengers were seriously injured. The driver and passenger ANNALISE WHIPPLE, age 13, from Warm Springs, were transported by ground ambulance to St. Charles Hospital in Madras before both being transferred to OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland.
A second passenger, RHIENNA WOLFE, age 16, from Warm Springs, was transported by air ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.
A dog was found deceased inside the vehicle.
OSP collision reconstructionists, with the assistance of a Bend Police Department reconstructionist, are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Safety restraint use is not confirmed at this time.
OSP troopers from the Bend and Madras offices were assisted by Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Jefferson County EMS, Jefferson County Fire District #1, and ODOT.
