A Milwaukie man was arrested Wednesday night after attempting to elude an Oregon State Police (OSP) trooper in a stolen vehicle and on foot.

On May 7, 2014 at approximately 10:28 p.m., an OSP trooper attempted to stop a black Nissan Sentra for a traffic violation observed on SE 82nd Avenue north of Clackamas Town Center. The driver failed to yield and attempted to elude west of SE 82nd Avenue along SE McBride Street, running stop signs and eventually entering a dead end parking lot at Christ the King Catholic Church in the 11000 block of SE Fuller Street.

The driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot behind a building with the trooper pursuing on foot. After jumping a fence into the backyard of a private residence, the trooper overtook the driver and took him into custody. The vehicle was confirmed stolen to Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

The driver, KEVIN CHARLES DERRICK, age 24, from Milwaukie, was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on the following charges:

* Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle
* Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
* Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
* Misdemeanor Attempt to Elude on Foot
* Reckless Driving
