HUMAN REMAINS FOUND AT GALES CREEK

May 14, 2014, Deputies are seeking the identity of human remains found in the Gales Creek area today.
On May 14, 2014, at about 4:30 p.m., Washington County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a rural area in the community of Gales Creek concerning found human remains. Deputies were called by a Clean Water Services contractor that was spraying noxious weeds along Gales Creek about a half mile west of SW Roderick Road. The contractor took deputies to a secluded area where the decomposed human remains were located.
There were no immediate signs of violence that may have been a cause in the death. It is believed the remains are from an adult, but that is yet to be confirmed.
The Washington County Forensic Science Unit responded to search for evidence and process the scene. The Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy on May 15, 2014 to determine the identity and cause of death.
