Charge: Assault First Degree
Just before 1am on May 11th, 2014, Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported shots fired call at a residence, 17414 NE 280th Street in the Heisson area. Responding deputies contacted the homeowner, Bill Bicknell. Bicknell said he had heard noises in his home that he felt might be an intruder and that he had fired off a shotgun attempting to scare away a youth who was exiting from a window inside his residence.
In the subsequent investigation, deputies learned that Bicknell's 15 year old granddaughter, who resides with him, had invited several other teenagers into the home. The youths began to flee the residence jumping out of an upper story window when they heard Bicknell approach. Deputies discovered shotgun pellet holes near the upper story window.
Deputies were able to account for all of the teens except one. Fearing the teen might have been injured by the shotgun blast, a search was conducted with K-9 and thermal night vision without success. Due to the severity of the incident and a possibly injured subject unaccounted for, Major Crime detectives were requested.
Several hours later, the missing teenager was located away from the scene. He had not been injured. No one involved was injured in this incident.
Major Crimes Detectives conducted an investigation and served a search warrant on the residence. Their investigation resulted in the arrest of Bill Bicknell. Bicknell was transported to Clark County jail and booked on a charge of Assault 1st degree.
The investigation is continuing. No further information will be released at this time.
