PF&R crews are at the scene of a natural gas leak near the intersection of SE 11th and Division. A construction crew called in after hitting a line with a concrete cutting saw; the crew reported hearing a roaring sound and a smell similar to rotten eggs. Fire crews are asking occupants of surrounding buildings to "shelter in place" (stay indoors) while they continue to monitor nearby buildings for the presence of natural gas. NW Natural is on-scene and working to get the natural gas leak contained; they have reported that the gas line is 2" in diameter. Traffic in the area will be affected. Updates to follow when av ailable.

NW Natural and Portland Fire & Rescue would like to remind residents and business owners of our safety message:
"To help reduce the number of dig-ins to underground gas lines and other utilities, remember to call 811 at least two business days before you dig. It̢۪s the law."
