***update

NW Natural crews have reported that this break was a result of an excavator dig. The gas line was shut off at 11:20am by NW Natural crews with PF&R crews standing by. The scene is clear and any traffic issues have returned to normal.

NW Natural and PF&R would like to remind residents and business owners that in order to help reduce the number of dig-ins to underground gas lines and other utilities, remember to call 811 at least two business days before you dig. It̢۪s the law.

***end of update

At aprox. 10:33am today PF&R crews were dispatched to the scene of a natural gas leak. A construction crew reported hearing "hissing" at their worksite at 6035 N Greely Ave. When crews arrived they realized there was aprox. a 3/4" line beneath the ground that was releasing gas. Northwest Natural Gas is at the scene now attempting to get the leak controlled. Fire crews searched nearby buildings for any detectable natural gas and have found none. They have asked nearby residents to stay inside or "shelter in place". Additional information will be updated when available.
