PORTLAND FIRE & RESCUE CREWS ASSISTING WITH NATURAL GAS LEAK AT 6035 N GREELY AVE

At aprox. 10:33am today PF&R crews were dispatched to the scene of a natural gas leak. A construction crew reported hearing "hissing" at their worksite at 6035 N Greely Ave. When crews arrived they realized there was aprox. a 3/4" line beneath the ground that was releasing gas. Northwest Natural Gas is at the scene now attempting to get the leak controlled. Fire crews searched nearby buildings for any detectable natural gas and have found none. They have asked nearby residents to stay inside or "shelter in place". Additional information will be updated when available.
