JIM WALKER APPOINTED INTERIM OREGON STATE FIRE MARSHAL

Oregon State Police announced today on March 4, 2014, Mark Wallace has been replaced as the Oregon State Fire Marshal. OSP Superintendent Richard Evans appointed Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Jim Walker as interim Oregon State Fire Marshal.

"I thank Mr. Wallace for his work during the last 2 Â1/2 years as Oregon State Fire Marshal, and I have full confidence in Chief Walker and his ability to lead the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal in a different direction," said Superintendent Evans.

Walker joined the OSFM as Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal in in 2009. Prior to that, Walker was the Fire Operations Director for the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF). His experience includes managing ODF's statewide fire operations activities, directing ODF's statewide aviation resources, and oversight of ODF's three incident management teams.

Walker has a master's degree in economics and completed post-graduate coursework in fire operations, fire protection, and fire & life safety.

He is a member of the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association, Oregon Volunteer Firefighters Association, Pacific Northwest Coordinating Group Steering Committee, Western Fire Chiefs Association, National Fire Protection Association, International Fire Chiefs Association, and International Code Council.
