The Clark-Vancouver Regional Drug Task Force and the Southwest Washington Regional SWAT team executed a search warrant this morning resulting in the arrest of four individuals on drug-related charges. The search warrant was executed at 6:00 AM at 21615 NE 259th St in the Battle Ground Lake area of Clark County and was part o f an on-going drug trafficking investigation.
The drug task force started an investigation after it received complaints of heroin being sold out of the house. Task force detectives, over the course of several weeks, arranged to purchase heroin from the house. The purpose of today's search warrant was to locate and arrest suspects in the case and to obtain further evidence of drug trafficking.
During the search, detectives located small amounts of heroin and methamphetamine, drug scales, drug paraphernalia, a handgun, and approximately $8,700 in cash. A stolen car that had already been stripped for parts was also recovered. Detectives had to be extremely careful during the search as numerous discarded syringes were also found in the house.
"In this particular case the drug activity was pretty obvious," said task force commander Mike Cooke. "Customers would park down the street at the side of the road and then walk several hundred feet to the house. Then they would walk up to a window where the hand-to-hand transaction would take place."
"That business model works for fast food but not necessarily for heroin in a rural residential area," Cooke said.
The following individuals were arrested and booked at the Clark County Jail.
1. Michael Steven Thompson, 23, Battle Ground. Possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a dangerous weapon.
2. Leonard Daniel Langdon II, 24, Battle Ground. Possession of heroin.
3. Jeremy Todd Howem, 24, Battle Ground. Possession of heroin.
4. Sheila Ann Langdon, 51, Battle Ground. Maintaining a drug dwelling.
