March 4, 2014 --Washington County Sheriff's Child Abuse Detectives are searching for additional sex abuse victims following the arrest of a Bethany man. There are numerous victims identified.

Sheriff's Deputies were contacted by the Department of Human Services last September to investigate a complaint that Johnathan Richard Black, 39, from Bethany had inappropriate sexual contact with a young boy. Sheriff's Deputies investigated the complaint and the Sheriff's Office Child Abuse Detectives began assisting with the case.

Over the past few months, detectives have processed evidence and interviewed a large number of people who had knowledge of, or were potential victims of Mr. Black. It is believed the abuse occurred mainly at Mr. Black's residence in the community of Bethany. Detectives believe that Mr. Black would lure the minor victims to his home prior to the alleged abuse. There are five confirmed male victims that have come forward. Detectives are currently following up on additional reports regarding Mr. Black.

On February 26, 2014, a Washington County District Attorney presented this case to a Grand Jury. The Grand Jury handed down indictments and issued a warrant for Mr. Black's arrest. He turned himself into the jail on March 2, 2014.

John R. Black is lodged in the Washington County Jail held on $1,745,000 bail. He is charged with Sex Abuse I x 3, Sex Abuse II x 2, Sex Abuse III x 2, Sodomy I, Sodomy III, Luring a Minor I x 4, Using a Child in Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct, and numerous drug related crimes.

The Washington County Child Abuse Detectives believe there is a high likelihood that there are additional victims of unreported crimes committed by Mr. Black.
Detectives are seeking the public's help regarding this case. If
you have any information, please call the Washington County Sheriff's Office at (503) 846-2500.
