ACCREDITATION TEAM INVITES PUBLIC COMMENT - CLARK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

Clark County Sheriff Garry E. Lucas announces that a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will arrive on Sunday, March 23rd, 2014 to examine all aspects of the Clark County Sheriff's Office policy and procedures, management, operations and support services. Verification by the team that the Clark County Sheriff's Office meets the Commission's state of the art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation for a 28th consecutive year - a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence.
As part of the assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Tuesday, March 25th, 2014 at 430pm in the Commissioner's Hearing Room 6th Floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.Vancouver, WA. If for some reason an individual cannot speak at the public information session but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, he/she may do so by telephone. The public may call 360 397-2417 on Tuesday, March 25th, 2014 between the hours of 1:30pm and 3:30pm.
Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency's ability to comply with CALEA Standards. The Clark County Sheriff's Office will show compliance with 385 applicable standards in order to maintain accredited status. Accreditation is for three years, during which the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with these standards under which it was initially accredited.
