VANCOUVER FATAL HIT AND RUN SUSPECT ARRESTED

On February 26, 2014 Vancouver Police were notified by Camas Police that they located and arrested Jessica B. Van Wechel, 30, of Camas. Van Wechel is the suspect in the fatal hit and run collision that occurred on October 28, 2013 at Mill Plain Blvd./105th Avenue. Stephen D. Dewey, 65, of Vancouver, was using a walker to cross Mill Plain Blvd. when he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. Mr. Dewey later died of his injuries.
Vancouver Police developed probable cause for Van Wechel as the suspect in that crime and notified area law enforcement. At approximately 9:50 p.m., Camas Police conducted a traffic stop on Van Wechel and booked her into the Clark County Jail on Driving While License Suspended III and Hit and Run Injury or Fatality.
The investigation is continuing and no further information is available at this time.
