OSP TRAFFIC STOP LEADS SEIZURE OF METHAMPHETAMINE & COCAINE, ARREST OF CALIFORNIA RESIDENT - HIGHWAY 97 NEAR REDMOND

A California man was arrested last Thursday during an Oregon State Police (OSP) traffic stop two miles south of Redmond when a trooper discovered several ounces of methamphetamine and cocaine concealed in the car. The OSP Drug Enforcement Section investigation has progressed to the point of allowing release of information.
On February 6, 2014 at approximately 11:00 a.m., an OSP senior trooper stopped a 2005 Honda four-door displaying California license plates northbound on Highway 97 near milepost 127 for a traffic violation. The vehicle's driver was identified as FRANCISCO R. HUIZAR JR, age 18, from Castro Valley, California.
Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop with the assistance of an OSP drug detection canine led the trooper to find approximately 30 ounces of methamphetamine and over 5 ounces of cocaine concealed inside the car.
HUIZAR was arrested and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail for Unlawful Possession and Delivery of Controlled Substances - Methamphetamine and Cocaine.
