Oregon State Police (OSP) arrested a Eugene man Wednesday morning after numerous reports of a wrong way driver on Interstate 5 near Canyonville.

According to Sergeant Matt Bowersox, on February 12, 2014 at approximately 5:05 a.m., the OSP Southern Command Center dispatch began receiving numerous calls about a wrong way driver on Interstate 5 near Canyonville. A dark colored 1992 Toyota Paseo was reported southbound in the northbound lanes traveling and stopping intermittently in the traffic lanes and on the shoulder. OSP, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, and Myrtle Creek Police Department dispatched officers to check the freeway and find the vehicle.

As additional calls came into dispatch, at approximately 5:58 a.m. an OSP trooper found the vehicle stopped with lights on near milepost 95. Subsequent contact with driver DANIEL A. PAULL, age 42, from Eugene, determined no evidence of alcohol or drugs but he did appear disoriented. PAULL was arrested for Reckless Driving. He was taken to the Douglas County Jail.
