Gresham, Ore -The Daugherty family issued a statement to Gresham Police that they asked be disseminated to media. The statement came from the parents of Michael Daugherty who was rescued by Gresham Police last week after being held captive in a Gresham apartment. Below is their statement:

Our family has been going through a difficult time with the recent incident involving our son Michael. We are thankful for everybody's concern. However, we ask media to please respect our privacy during this difficult time. We hope you all understand how stressful this time has been for our family. We respectfully decline to give any additional statements, nor do we wish to appear on-camera or do any interviews.

Thank you for your understanding and for allowing us this time to heal.
