SERIOUS INJURY TRAFFIC CRASH - HIGHWAY 229 NEAR SILETZ IN LINCOLN COUNTY (PHOTOS)

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Sunday morning's serious injury single vehicle rollover crash that occurred along Highway 229 south of Siletz in Lincoln County.
On January 5, 2014 at approximately 10:19 a.m., a 2000 Ford Expedition driven by MARCOS MUNIZ-STRONG, age 31, from Siletz, was traveling on Highway 229 near milepost 28 when MUNIZ-STRONG lost control on icy road conditions. The vehicle rolled once then continued off the highway where it came to rest on its side.
MUNIZ-STRONG and two juvenile age passengers received minor injuries but were not transported to a hospital. A third passenger identified as JONATHAN P. BENEDICT, age 22, from Toledo, was seriously injured and transported by REACH air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for treatment.
All occupants were using safety restraints.
OSP troopers from the Newport Area Command office are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Trooper Danner is the lead investigator.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Toledo Fire Department, Pacific West Ambulance, and ODOT. The highway was closed for about five hours with a short detour in place for area traffic.
