Two PF&R engines and a truck were dispatched to a multiple vehicle accident at N Columbia Blvd and N Burgard St this morning at 6:16am.

Initial reports indicated that there were three vehicles involved with at least one patient that required extrication due to the amount of damage to the vehicle. Responding fire crews were updated by the first arriving engine to approach with caution as roads were icy.

A total of (3) patients were transported, all trauma system entries.

Icy road conditions were a factor in the cause of the accident. Portland Fire cautions citizens to drive with extreme caution when temperatures are below or near freezing, and that bridges and overpasses may have worsened conditions due to more surface area being exposed.
