One person was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Highway 20 and Independence Highway west of Albany in Benton County.

On December 3, 2013 at approximately 9:08 a.m., a 2004 Honda Civic driven by TOMAS A. GARZA, age 42, from McMinnville, was traveling southbound on Independence Highway. After approaching a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 20, GARZA attempted to turn left and his car was struck in the driver's side by a westbound 2000 Subaru station wagon driven by ETHAN GLASER, age 25, from Albany.

GARZA was extricated by Albany Fire Department firefighters and then transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

GLASER was not injured.

Both drivers were using safety restraints and their vehicles' airbags deployed.

Highway 20 was blocked in both directions for about 50 minutes during the incident response and investigation.

GARZA was cited by OSP for Fail to Obey a Traffic Control Device - Stop Sign.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Benton County Sheriff's Office, Albany Fire Department, and ODOT.

Senior Trooper Scott Granger is the lead investigator.
