Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife troopers are asking for the public's help in solving a deer poaching case near Merrill in southern Klamath County. A reward of up to $250 is offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
During the week ending December 7, 2013, a large deer was shot and left near the town of Merrill. Local residents were very familiar with the deer which had sweeping antlers estimated to be nearly 30 inches wide.
"This kind of act is exactly what is disgusting about poachers." said OSP Sergeant Randall Hand. "The deer was shot and left to rot while its head was taken as a trophy."
Oregon Hunters Association is offering a reward of $250 through the Turn-In-Poachers program for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) involved in this case. Anyone with information related to this case is urged to call Sergeant Hand at (541) 851-4911, or the Turn-In-Poachers TIP line at 1-800-452-7888.
