The Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division is asking for the public's help to identify the suspect(s) involved in the dumping and waste of a bull elk north of Corvallis on the Oregon State University's McDonald-Dunn Research Forest property.
The elk was discovered by a passerby on Thursday evening, November 21, 2013, at the Tampico 400 Road Gate parking area. There were approximately 250 - 300 pounds of meat dumped, including all four quarters, back straps and other cuts of meat. The elk is believed to possibly be a spike and its antlers were removed by cutting them away from the skull with a saw.
A reward of up to $250.00 is being offered through the Oregon Hunters Association Turn-In-Poachers (TIP) Fund for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
Anyone with information to help OSP identify the suspect(s) is asked to call the TIP Line at 800-452-7888 or OSP Trooper Kirk Burkholder at the Albany Area Command Office (541) 967-2026.
