The Cascades Region of the Red Cross will continue to operate an emergency warming shelter tonight through Sunday. The shelter will be at Imago Dei Community (1302 SE Ankeny in Portland) on Friday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec. 8. However, the Red Cross warming center location for Saturday, Dec. 7 will be at Congregation Shaarie Torah located at 920 NW 25th Avenue at Lovejoy. On all three nights, guests are welcome from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. This is the seventh year the Red Cross has worked with the City of Portland to operate a severe weather emergency warming center.

Triggers for opening the center include:

- Overnight low of 25 degrees F or less (with or without wind-chill)
- 32 degrees F with one inch of precipitation forecasted to fall overnight
- If there is accumulating snow of 1 inch or more sticking to the ground in most locations of Portland

Red Cross staff members and volunteers will be operating the site and will provide blankets, sleeping mats and warm beverages to guests. The shelter is also pet-friendly and crates will be provided to people who bring their pets. The shelter is open to all individuals who need a warm, safe place to sleep.
