PORTLAND FIRE & RESCUE RESPONDING TO A HOUSE FIRE IN SW PORTLAND

Fire crews were dispatched to a residential fire (2110 SW Hilen Ct.) at 12:29 pm. Initial reports stated that the fire was started by an unattended candle. Firefighters arrived to smoke and flames coming from the front of the house. All occupants were accounted for and no one was injured. This release will be updated with a damage estimate when that information is determined.
Candles start more than 13,000 home fires each year. Most candle fires start in the bedroom.
