PGE - SUN 6:24pm

PGE: As of 6 p.m. Sunday, PGE crews have successfully energized a portion of the downtown network affected by today's power outage, restoring power to customers north of SW Alder St. between 4th Avenue and Broadway. Other affected buildings in a nine-block area south of SW Alder on SW 4th and SW 5th avenues, including Portland City Hall, the Portland Building, and the Multnomah County Courthouse will remain without power Monday as crews continue to repair damage caused by this morning's underground cable failure and vault fire. See map of the affected area at http://bit.ly/1cjKVfJ. Also affected are traffic signals in the area. Drivers and pedestrians should treat affected signals as four-way stop intersections, and exercise special care with reduced visibility in the evening hours and during tomorrow morning's commute. The outage continues to affect the MAX Green and Yellow lines in the area as well. MAX trains are roughly the length of a city block and must stop at every intersection before they can proceed. Drivers should be alert to the change in MAX operations. Riders will continue to experience delays until all power is restored. Only a nine-block portion of the downtown core area remains affected, and the outage does not extend outside that core area. Holiday shoppers and other visitors are encouraged to check directly with retailers and other businesses to verify their status. People who work in the downtown core area should consult with their employer to determine whether their workday will be affected on Monday. PGE crews will continue to work through the night and until all repairs are complete, and are focused on restoring power as quickly as safety allows. PGE will provide updates as more information becomes available on Monday, and appreciates customers' and the public's patience as crews continue their restoration efforts. UPDATE
