PGE: PGE will hold a news media availability at 10:30 a.m. Monday morning near the corner of SW 5th Avenue and Taylor St. PGE's senior vice president of customer service, transmission and distribution, Bill Nicholson, will provide an update on the downtown power outage and restoration efforts. Current status: PGE crews worked through the night to repair damage from yesterday's outage affecting portions of the downtown Portland core area. Due to extensive damage and the extremely complex nature of the downtown power network crews now estimate that the restoration effort will need to continue throughout the day and well into the evening hours on Monday. The nine-blocks that are expected to remain without power until work can be completed includes roughly the area from SW Alder to SW Jefferson between 4th and 5th avenues. See the map of the affected area at http://bit.ly/1cjKVfJ. This area includes Portlan d City Hall, the Portland Building, the Multnomah County Courthouse, portions of Pioneer Place, and other buildings. Traffic signals in the area are affected by the outage. Those intersections should be treated as four-way stops. MAX Green and Yellow lines are also experiencing delays due to the need to stop at each affected intersection. Holiday shoppers and other visitors are encouraged to check directly with retailers and other businesses to verify their status. People who work in the downtown core area should consult with their employer to determine whether their workday will be affected on Monday. PGE appreciates its customers' and the public's patience as crews continue to work as quickly as safety allows to restore power. UPDATE
