Oregon State Police (OSP) and Josephine County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) are currently gathering search and rescue resources to search the surrounding area of a residence between Merlin and Grants Pass for a missing 66-year old woman.
On December 8, 2013 at approximately 12:51 a.m., the husband of JANIELLE H. MITCHELL, age 66, contacted 9-1-1 reporting her missing from their residence in the 2800 block of Azalea Drive near Drake Drive, a Grants Pass listed address that is northwest of the city and south of Merlin. MITCHELL reportedly got up shortly after midnight to go to the bathroom and didn't return to bed. He believes she went outside where temperatures are in the single digits. The area around the residence is described as wooded.
OSP troopers responded and Josephine County Sheriff's Office has activated their Search & Rescue resources to conduct an area search.
JANIELLE MITCHELL was wearing blue pajamas and is described as a white female, 5'3", and 135 pounds. A DMV photograph is provided with this release.
Anyone seeing MITCHELL or with information about her whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 or OSP Southern Command Center dispatch at 800-442-2068.
