This evening just before 9:00 p.m., Gresham Police and medics responded to a report of an assault at an apartment in the 300 block of NE Cleveland ave., Gresham. Initial reports were that at least one person in the apartment had been stabbed. When police arrived, they located a victim inside of an apartment that had what appeared to be a stab wound to the abdomen. The victim, a white male adult, was quickly taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition at this time is unknown.

Officers at the scene contacted a female with a minor cut to her hand. She was treated for her injuries and told police that she was involved in an altercation with another man in the 600 block of NE Cleveland ave. The victim was nearby and saw the fight happening. He tried to intervene, and in the process the suspect stabbed the victim and fled in an unknown direction on foot.

Officers at the scene are currently interviewing the female to determine if the female knows the suspect and what led up to the initial fight.
