SUMMER CHIP SEAL MAY CAUSE DELAYS - CHIP SEAL WILL HELP EXTEND LIFE OF ROADS REPAIRED

Gresham, Oregon - Starting Monday, July 8 crews will begin a chip seal project that will involve street closures and delays. The project is expected to end by July 31.
Local access will be allowed on closed streets and when necessary pilot cars will be used to control traffic. Each of the streets will be affected for one day three separate times over the duration of the project (schedule/map attached).
A chip seal is a road surface treatment that seals minor cracks with a combination of liquid asphalt and gravel. When first applied, chip seal looks like a gravel road; this is temporary and a normal occurrence in the process. Newly applied chip seal will shed rock for several weeks; street sweeping will remove the excess.
On-street parking will not be allowed on the day a street is scheduled for chip seal; signs will be placed 24 hours in advance. On construction days, any parked vehicles, trailers or equipment will be towed at the owner's expense. Residents living on or nearby streets that are scheduled for chip seal received information and instructions in the mail. To retrieve towed vehicles contact the Gresham Police Department at 503-618-2318.
