VANCOUVER POLICE ANNOUNCES NEW BICYCLE THEFT PREVENTION PROGRAM AND PARTNERSHIP
Posted: May 28th, 2013 4:56 PM

The Vancouver Police Department has partnered with Bad Monkey Bikes (1717 Broadway)and Bike Clark County to decrease the theft of stolen bikes and the number of bicycles recovered without identifiable owners.

"Monkey Shield" is a program where bicycle owners can register their bicycles with Bad Monkey Bikes for free. Registration includes a theft resistant sticker. This sticker will let police know that an owner's contact information is on file.

If police locate a bicycle they suspect is stolen, they can call Bad Monkey Bikes and return it to the owner. If a participant's bicycle is lost or stolen, the victim can contact the shop to obtain their bicycle information, including serial number, to make a report to the police.

The "Monkey Shield" program starts tomorrow at 1717 Broadway at 1:00 PM. "Bike Clark County", a recent victim of several stolen bicycles, is going to register all of their bicycles at Bad Monkey Bikes.

Bike Clark County is a non-profit bicycle advocacy organization.
