Firefighters from TVF&R's Beaverton Station 61 were the first to arrive at a fire this afternoon in the 13000 block of Walker Road. Within four minutes of the first frantic calls to 9-1-1 reporting the blaze, firefighters were already extinguishing flames coming from a second story window. Occupants of the home had safely evacuated but a poodle named Lucy was missing. Crews conducted a search of the home while they continued to fight the fire. It wasn't until the fire was extinguished that the fire investigator located Lucy hiding unharmed in a bedroom.
Though fire damage was limited to the room of origin, there was smoke and water damage throughout the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and fire investigators are being assisted by Washington County Sherriff's Office.
