Oregon State Police (OSP) arrested a 58-year old Illinois Valley man Monday night following a shooting in a parking lot of the Junction Inn in Cave Junction. The victim is in critical condition as OSP Criminal Investigations Division detectives continue the investigation.

According to Sergeant Jeff Fitzgerald, on May 27, 2013 at approximately 10:44 p.m., two OSP troopers were in the Cave Junction area on an unrelated call when a report was received of a shooting in the parking lot of Junction Inn located on S. Redwood Highway. The troopers arrived a few minutes later and discovered a critically injured adult male suffering a single gunshot wound to the chest. A second adult male, identified as RONALD DALE FEHLHABER, age 58, from Illinois Valley, was subsequently taken into custody.

The injured male identified as IMMANUEL ANGEL DAY, age 32, from Illinois Valley, was initially transported by Mercy Flights via air ambulance to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. He was later transferred by ground ambulance to Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford where he is in critical condition.

Preliminary investigation indicates the two men who are acquaintances were involved in an altercation in the parking lot when FEHLHABER shot DAY one time using a 9mm handgun.

FEHLHABER was lodged in the Josephine County Jail on the following charges:

* Attempted Murder
* Assault in the First Degree
* Unlawful Use of a Weapon
* Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
