Posted: April 22nd, 2013 12:06 PM
Gresham, Ore. - To commemorate Arbor Day and the City's 108-years, 108 Hogan cedars will be planted on the Gresham Butte Saddle Trail at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26.
In addition to the tree planting, the City is unveiling a Hogan cedar interpretive panel. Gresham City Council declared the Hogan cedar the official City tree in 2012. Gresham is the only Oregon city to have a designated city tree that grows naturally within its limits.
The tree planting will be led by the City's Urban Forestry Subcommittee and a youth conservation group from Mt. Hood Community College.
The event is open to the public. For more information call Tina Osterink at 503-618-2392 or visit GreshamOregon.gov/trees.
Directions to event site: Gresham Butte Saddle Trail is at the junction of two trails that can be accessed from either SW 19th Drive off SW Towle Avenue or SE 19th Street off SE Regner Road. From the trail head it is approximately a half-mile walk to site.
