At 1:35pm Today, power lines adjacent to Highway 99 at Chehalem Station road were knocked down by a falling tree, most likely due to high wind. This is a stretch of highway between Newberg and Sherwood. The power lines fell and struck a moving car. No one was injured and the car was safe to drive. Northbound traffic is affected and only one lane is open. PGE estimates repair to the power lines may take up to 10 hours.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office would like to remind drivers to slow down drive carefully through work zones.
