Gresham, Ore. - Police charged three Gresham men with multiple counts of burglary over the weekend after patrol officers encountered them as they were leaving the scene of a burglary. Calvin D Shadley, 21, Austin J Allen, 19, and Adam C Nichols, 19, were charged in the case after their arrest on Friday, February 22.

Detectives believe the trio is responsible for more burglaries, including a pair of burglaries in Portland's west hills, in which detectives have been unable to identify a victim as of yet.

The case began when a citizen who lives in the 2800 block of SE Vista Way, Gresham, called police Friday at 2 p.m. when three persons were seen trying doors in the neighborhood. Gresham Police responded and encountered the three as they were exiting a house they had just burglarized in the 2900 block of SE Vista, with goods from the burglary in their hands. The three fled on foot, but both Shadley and Allen were captured by responding officers who had set up a perimeter.

Further investigation by detectives identified Nichols as the third suspect and detectives and officers began searching the area of his residence, the 3500 block of NE 17th St. An officer encountered Nichols walking in the 2500 block of NE 23rd St., less than a mile from his residence, and recognized him from the description and photo that had been distributed by detectives. He was arrested without incident.

Police believe additional victims of Shadley's, who investigators say is responsible for several burglaries in East County, may be easy to find: Shadley often burglarizes in order to steal women's underwear.

If citizens have been a victim of a burglary in which women's underwear was stolen they are asked to call Gresham Police Tips line.

Detectives also recovered items they believe came from a burglary in Portland's west hills area: a white Emerson microwave, an iHome brand portable speaker system and a 35 mm Pentax K-1000 camera. Photos of these items are attached. Detectives are interested in talking with the person who lost these items in a burglary to their residence.

Charges: Nichols: Two Counts Att. Burglary I, one count Burglary I, one count Theft I;
Allen: Two Counts Att. Burglary I, one count Burglary I, one count Theft I;
Shadley: 10 Counts Burglary I, two counts Att. Burglary I, one count Theft I.
