Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are investigating a two-vehicle serious injury traffic crash on Highway 47 about two miles north of Highway 26 near the Washington/Columbia County line. The highway is still blocked and traffic updates are available on TripCheck.com.

Preliminary information indicates on February 28, 2013 at approximately 3:00 p.m. a 2004 Subaru Outback with one occupant was southbound on Highway 47 near milepost 76 when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a northbound 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe with two occupants. After impact, the Subaru came to rest off the highway. The Chevrolet came to rest partially blocking the highway.

The Subaru's driver was transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Chevrolet's female driver was transported by ambulance to Tuality Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The male passenger was treated and released at the scene.

No names available for release at this time.

OSP is assisted at the scene by Vernonia Rural Fire Department, Vernonia Police Department, and ODOT.
