OSP INVESTIGATING REPORTED STABBING ASSAULT OF TRUCK DRIVER - INTERSTATE 84 VIEWPORINT EAST OF CORBETT

A commercial truck driver received minor, non-life threatening injuries after he reported he was stabbed by one of 2 suspects who approached him when he was stopped in the viewpoint parking area along the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 east of Corbett in the Columbia River Gorge.
Preliminary information indicates on January 4, 2013 at approximately 12:23 a.m. an adult male truck driver was stopped in the westbound viewport along Interstate 84 near milepost 23 when he was approached by two men. During the contact, one of the two men described as a white adult male pulled a knife and assaulted the victim causing minor wounds to his hand, lower arm and stomach.
The two suspects reportedly left westbound in a dark colored sport utility vehicle, similar to a Ford Explorer. The vehicle was also described as "lowered". The other suspect was described as a dark colored, possibly Hispanic or Indian, male. Additional descriptive information may be released later today after it is confirmed.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Mt. Hood Medical Center for treatment. His name will also be released later.
OSP troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Trooper Kim Long is the lead investigator. OSP was assisted at the scene by Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.
